I ignored mine for 8yrs and they started garnishing my check. So I wrote a letter to the judge explaining I tried to pay and they refused to accept anything except full payment. Judge waved it all. Phew 😮💨

Yes your debt being sold to "collections" means your debt was bought at a loss and your debt is closed with the original company now the people that bought said debt have ZERO legal authority to collect that debt because you NEVER had any contract with them 🤗

That is true. I've worked im Debtor /Creditor Law. Even in Civil Cases in Ontario, never acknowledge anybody you owe them money. If it's been two years there's nothing they can do about it.

People in the comments - people don’t go into debt willingly most of the time… it’s expensive out here and the credit card companies/banks are killing people with interest. It’s literally designed to make most people fail. They hope you do so they can write it off. This is why they will give someone a card with no job a high limit

how do you even pay collections? I forgot to pay a medical bill and it went to collections it said but nobody has ever reached out to me trying to collect. I just wanna clear my debt is only like $200 and collections prob only want $5 lol 😭

Pay your debts… be sure to remind our fed govt - $30 TRILLION & counting. The wealthy (corps especially) write off debt all the time. Y’all ‘regular’ folks should learn to play the game of the system you live in.
