They already kinda do. The cavelier, banneret, samurai, and eldritch knight each can reflect a few types of upbringings. I think a good way of doing that would be to give the fighter more tailored options. Warlocks get a plethora of customizable features outside of their subclass and spells, namely their invocations and pact boons. Fighters get 1 fighting style and 3 extra ASI improvements/feats as compensation, but nothing specifically to reflect their past training. A collection of mini-feats or special moves *cough* battle maneuvers *cough* for every fighter, hell every martial class, should be a think.

Hot take: Rogues are just as generic and flavor-versatile as Fighters, but the way people view them is colored too heavily by their main feature being called "Sneak Attack" and their class originally being called "Thief".

Fighters are 𝒕𝒉𝒆 most blank slate class, and that’s what makes them so versatile, and that’s one of their biggest strength.. you can take 2 fighters of the same subclass and they can still come out wildly different because of all the choices that go into making a fighter.. all the different playstyles of it make it the best class for all the different playstyles you can do
