"humans have language" communication actually isn't unique to humans.

As an autistic this stresses me out so much. We are animals. Why do people freak out about trying to separate us from the rest of us? It’s all so bizarre.

🙃 if humans being animals means we shouldn't eat animals and animal products... are we now passing some kind of moral judgement on cats and sharks and hawks?

We move too much to be rocks, and breathe too much to be plants. We must be animals, because there's not a whole lot of options left. 😂

...do people have a problem being animals? Like...it is a fact that we categorized ourselves...and then self inserted...::confused shrug::

People who don’t think humans are animals do so because they have no idea what animals are or what they can do. Other animals have language, laws, morals, etc. They just don’t present those things in a “human” way.

humans invented the measurements for intelligence based on human intelligence so of course it's going to be skewed to make us look special compared to other animals

That last one is almost right - you just need to add a bit to it. Our morals, laws, etc have no justification 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘸𝘦 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮.
The rest of the universe at large doesn't give two shits about our morals - they're only important because we think they are.

Also, I'm pretty sure EVERY animal has a form of language. Do they forget that body language exists?
What about orcas having different dialects? Does that not count as language, either?

On the vegan thing: SO MANY animals eat other animals! Like. Being An Animal Too is arguably more of a point in support of NOT being vegan.

I'd like to add: Bugs are animals too. And I'm using the colloquial "bugs". Spiders are animals. Worms are animals. Insects are animals.

yeah as a vegan i don't think that "we are animals" is a particularly good argument for veganism, since you could just as easily say "we are eukaryotes" to include plants lol

Us being animals =/= a case for veganism. Animals eating animals is just nature. However, the extremely unnatural, usually awful methods we use to rear livestock for food is absolutely a great reason to be vegan. (Note: I am not even vegetarian, I recognise my own hypocrisy.)

The only distinction I wonder about is why we are the only ones who have built technology that builds more complex technology and built large societies. Is it just Brains and apposable members? A lot of animals build nests, or might use a stick as a tool, or develop cooperative groups, but why aren't there octopus towns with little octopus traders exchanging coconut halves for good tasting fish? Is it some kind of gene mutation that drives our psychology to use the biological tools we have differently than other animals? Sure someone could say that is like a seagul wondering why a penguin doesnt fly, but i think it is a bigger distinction than that, we shape our world to a greater degree than other animals. However on the flip side we do have small native populations of humans who have not gone past developing spears and shelter. Population density and conflict? I think there is a history channel thing about Steel, germs and somthing else I need to re-watch. haha.
