Not almost. Your body starts dying at 8000m. That’s why so many people die in the death zone. The dizziness, the confusion, the pain. Your body can’t heal at those heights so if you’re injured you stay injured. There’s just so many things that make me go hey that’s literally insane behaviour.

the only people I feel bad for are the sherpas who carry everyone's supplies and go up and down multiple times. they have the highest death rate and they do it because they need the money so desperately. but they're not getting that $35k they're getting pennies for all that hard work and risk of their own health.
