By the book this is correct. Drastic! However there is a better way, that requires a better handeling not supported by insurance. .. less pilots know this. Indeed in long houl operation. Yes, I know.

As a 777 captain, I can tell you that this is approved procedure according to the manual. Landing in a crab is not great for the tires, but it is the safest in a high crosswind because you have the wings level and both gears touch at the same time and no change in flight controls just before touchdown
