Teach your child that not every adult deserves the full truth. Honesty is important but safety comes first. 1. When a stranger asks where they live Teach them to stay vague. They do not need to give their full name, address, school, or family details to people they do not know. 2. When a stranger asks, “Are you alone?” Teach them to say: “My mom is nearby.” “My dad is coming.” “Someone is with me.” That answer can protect them in a risky moment. 3. When someone tells them to keep a secret Teach them not to agree. If an adult says, “Don’t tell your parents,” that is a red flag. Children should tell a trusted adult right away. 4. When someone knocks and they are not sure who it is Teach them not to open the door. They can say: “My parents are not available.” “Please come back later.” “I can’t open the door.” 5. When someone online gets too personal Teach them to stop replying. They should not share photos, phone numbers, school names, or private family details with online strangers. 6. When a person asks them to go somewhere Teach them to say no and move away. No snacks. No rides. No “quick trips.” No private meetups. 7. When they need time to escape Teach them to buy time with safe words. Examples: “My mom is coming.” “I have to go.” “I’m not allowed to talk right now.” A child who can step away is safer. 8. What parents must say clearly Tell your child: “You do not owe strangers the truth.” “You can lie to stay safe.” “Then tell me everything when you get home.” That is not teaching disrespect. That is teaching survival. 9. Honesty at home still matters Children should feel safe telling the truth to you. If home is calm, honest, and safe, they will not need to hide things from you. 10. Do not punish truth If your child comes to you after making a mistake, reward the truth first. Correct the behavior. Protect the child. Keep the door open. The real lesson is to Teach them: Truth at home. Protection with strangers. Honesty with safe people. Quick reporting after danger. That is how you raise a child who is both truthful and street-smart. #childsafety #IntentionalParenting #fyp #thatglobalmum #parentingbuddy
