@hubermanlab: The Mental Switch That Separates Pros From Amateurs Are you approaching your work and life in general like an amateur or a pro? What each really means and how to, if necessary, flip the switch. Steven Pressfield (@spressfield), author of The War of Art, who is still in pro mode at 82, on the Huberman Lab podcast out now. #huberman #hubermanlab #hubermanlabpodcast
turning pro changed my life. it’s not about making money it’s about effort, consistency and finding a deep joy in your life’s work

i think this is a very masculine approach to life - which is totaly fine by itself, however by labeling it "pro" and "amateur" a quality judgment is being attached to it. Both approaches (the aggressive and the gentle one) have their benefits and drawbacks, both can be used in a beneficial or counterproductive way. Focusing on one while rejecting the other can be harmful in the long run.

I see the point but as long as you know you’re an amateur, right? You can carry yourself professionally and be delusional about your proficiency. Every pro was an amateur first.

1 caveat: for most people they don’t love the job they do like Kobe did, like Brady did - going to the office, job site etc is very different to going to the stadium & playing the game you love. Still, plenty of great stuff here 👍🏻👏👍🏻👏

It's all about the discipline! Discipline is doing it consistently no matter how they feel. Discipline gets results, feelings often keep you in your comfort zone. To grow, you must be willing to be uncomfortable.
