Th biblical way of marriage doesn’t say you have to do the deed when you don’t want to. It says do not withhold from each other except upon agreement for a short time, and that each person’s body belongs to their spouse - it goes both ways. But the husband is held to an in credibly high standard, he is to “love his wife like Christ loved the church,” literally sacrificing everything he is and everything he wants for her

Just wanted to chime in as a Christian - unfortunately I think this scripture can be twisted and used for abuse in marriage, however the role of a husband is to love and put his life down for his wife. In my marriage when I need emotional intimacy instead my husband respects that and we connect that way!

I agree with this 100%. In my own experience, my anger is what reminds me that I am in need too. Its realizing that I am human, and something might be unfair. But we, as woman, are so manipulated into not even acknowledging our anger.

So can I choose to not provide for my wife if I don’t feel like it? Or if I feel like she doesn’t deserve it? God calls on us to love our spouses and give our bodies to them to honor God. Your body is his body and his is yours. If you don’t like this, you shouldn’t have gotten married.

would you be willing to discuss sexual intimacy/physical needs? my husband says withholding sexual intimacy because I'm not in the mood is wrong because it's a need that I should make a sacrifice for to meet for him sometimes even if I'm not really into it

And in religion, men are taught by the bible/other men to seek comfort in their wife instead of learning self regulation tools. Almost like men are traumatizing themselves, think think this is what im ‘supposed’ to do and it’s not working so I’ll just blame my wife

All identity phases, shifts, and rewrites require that we first deploy our inner two-year old to stomp her feet and say “NO” to anything and everything and anyone we want to. Once we’ve asserted Mrs. Sassypants, we chill back down and bring back into our lives the pieces of life we still want as part of the new identity.

No, I think we as humans when we feel this way should dig deep into the Bible and prayer to help you be closer to the person that you made a covenant with

I genuinely believe so much of this is with it being understood that there is mutual respect and it is a healthy relationship. These rules just don’t make sense otherwise.

My husband and I have just gone through the hardest year in therapy. Decentering our parents and then decentering my husband. It was those 2 things or divorce. I could no longer be on the back burner. My husband has been so humble and has grown so much. He has learned how much intuition I have and that letting me have influence in our marriage has made our marriage blossom in ways we never could have dreamed. It’s been freakin hard, but sooo worth it!!❤

I’ve watched this three times and I still have no idea what you’re talking about. But as to your question, “what if they don’t agree”… Then the wife, or husband, has broken their vows. At least if they withhold for a long period of time. Grounds for divorce

we only can withhold a commodity, and dissociation helps us pretend we’re not a commodity. when we begin to allow ourselves to inhabit our “no,” for ANY reason, we have to face how much we’ve treated OURSELVES as a commodity to elicit kindness or harmony. POV someone who was raised in 90s purity culture, pastor’s wife who held her breath and performed enthusiasm for decades

each partners religion should be understood mutually. but putting a book, and interpretations of life 2k years ago, in the center of your marriage? dangerous. bc the bible is almost never taken with context.

no, the men must love their wives as Christ loves the Church. They can't just do whatever they want while women have to "obey"

Please don’t perpetuate the stereotype that the woman is always the lower libido partner. Intimacy is a part of marriage and if it’s not happening the relationship needs work, or it will stop workint.

When it talks of not holding your body from your partner, it’s talking to both men and women. This scripture is not one that is only talking to the wife.

A Christian marriage is a race to the bottom. One supporting the other as much as possible. Either the man trying the hardest to be at the bottom

No, youre not supposed to have sex with them anyways. The bible encapsulated our emotions and all that when it refers to sex/intimacy. Bc the goal is to bring you together as one, not just for reproducing. If you donit anyway, it does the complete opposite.
