i’m 16, and I just realized that most of Gen Z takes relationships seriously — whether with or without labels — and honestly, we shouldn’t normalize that. It’s perfectly okay not to have a label, because you don’t need one to express the love and care you have for each other. But here’s a tip for other Gen Z out there like me: we shouldn’t focus too much on relationships at a young age. It’s fine to have a crush, an M.U. (mutual understanding), or even a boyfriend or girlfriend, but don’t take it too seriously. Don’t act like a mother or father figure when you’re still young. Our parents or guardians aren’t saying that having a relationship is bad, but they remind us that we’re still in the stage of building our future. My tita once told me something that really stuck with me: “Having a crush is okay, or even a secret relationship — just don’t take it too seriously. You’re still young. You’re the one shaping your future, not us. Keep that in mind.”😂
