The Sermon on the Mount scene from the Passion of the Christ | 2004 ✝️ This very profound and beautiful scene where our Lord Jesus talks about the meaning of love and forgiveness. ❤️‍🔥🙏🏻 The world tells us to seek revenge and hit back harder when someone hurts you and calls it “standing up for yourself” this is opposed to Christ’s teachings as we are called to love and although we should use our words to correct people with love, using violence or sinful means to convey it is wrong. Instead, love and pray for those who hurt you. Forgive over and over again. Just like Jesus forgave all who tortured Him. None of us can do it on our own but with God’s grace. The world and God’s definition of love and forgiveness are two different ideas. The world tells us to “do what thou will” meaning no self control and we can give in to any earthly desires of the flesh we want, and that doing our will isn’t sinful, and if we aren’t “hurting” anyone then it’s okay (even though it is hurting the person spiritually) we shouldn’t live a life doing what we want but what God wants. Look at the Ten Commandments and what Christ preaches. For example, If someone felt the desire to eat 10 tonnes of sugar in one sitting would it be fine to do it JUST because you feel like it? No. Each of us have self control and we know that it would kill us physically; similar to desires of the flesh - If we give in to desires of the flesh then it can kill us eternally, don’t listen to the world and the propaganda in the media telling us that just because it “feels” good it’s okay. Hell is very real, but Christ tells us not to be afraid but to stand back up, confess our sins, receive Jesus within the Holy Eucharist and ask God with a sincere heart for grace and help to repent. The devil wants our souls, he is so happy mankind is falling away from Church but there is time: we all sin but remember Christ has defeated death! God gave us boundaries out of love not to “control” us like the world tells us but to FREE us from the death that sin brings.
