I honestly fought back tears after work/school today seeing tons of random community members standing around my school with whistles - protecting kids they don’t know! It was really beautiful.

I moved to Chicagoland last summer and I couldn't be prouder of my new home. I'm in the burbs and my neighbors are showing up in ways I honestly wouldn't have expected. we're definitely not experiencing anywhere near the same level of street presence or activity but we're still responding and speaking to each other and looking out for each other in such kind ways.

My friend has a house with a big yard that she is unable to go into due to it being inaccessible to her wheelchair. Im in an apartment but have garden and construction experience. We’re turning her backyard into an accessible garden, and hoping to add composting toilet and outdoor shower for unhoused neighbors. What the garden produces is going to help us keep or grocery bill down, to feed the community, and extra to sell to put right back in the cycle of community care. We’re hoping our unhoused neighbors will also want to participate in the tending of the garden. Im more excited about this project than I have been about anything in a long time.
