Ueah. My Dad knew it better than anyone. He worked at the City Engineers office for 47 years. He lead the survey crews who, surveyed EVERYTHING underground. Dad used to say that there is just as much below ground as above.

There is or was a mine shaft that went from butterworth to Patterson Ave. since gypsum mines closed most shafts are now flooded they run all over the west side they stoped mapping them in the 1940s

The streets downtown used to be a lot lower than they are today. Just look at the buildings. At street level you will notice windows being cut off and brick work that shows where the windows previously were.
