On 3-4-3 or 3-3-3 or even 3-3 seating, choose two adjacent aisle seats. Still next to each other and each has aisle

Some A330’s use 3-3-3 like cebu pacific and Air Asia. A220’s 3-2, 767’s 2-3-2 and A340’s 2-4-2. Some old ANA 777’s have 2-4-3. Upper deck on A380 is best with the storage.

As a married couple of 26 years, I take the aisle seat, she takes the window, we leave the middle seat open. Most of the time the person that sits in the middle never even knows that we are married.

If you’re a couple you can alternate throughout the flight, if it bothers that much to have the middle seat even though you are sitting next to your other. The issue with middle seats is when there is a stranger on either side of you
