But sometimes the visual signs of oral dysfunction are so obvious they practically scream,“This baby needs a full functional assessment!” 👀 Here’s what those photos might show us: 🚩 Lip blisters or callouses from poor latch 🚩 Open-mouth sleep 🚩 Prolonged recessed chin or weak jaw 🚩 Low tongue posture / tongue resting on the floor of the mouth 🚩 White “milk tongue” that doesn’t scrape off 🚩 Red creases or folds under the chin or in the neck 🚩 Facial tension or asymmetry A picture may not tell the whole story but it can tell us where to start looking. 😉 #feedingtherapy #tonguetie #oralfunction #speechtherapy #MomsofTikTok
