@missy23232: Conflict at work isn’t the problem — it’s how you handle it. Interviewers ask this question to see if you can stay calm, listen, and collaborate when things get tense. Avoid answers that sound defensive or passive. Show that you know how to manage conflict with empathy and professionalism. Want to practice answers like this before your next interview? So saying “in the parking lot after work” is the wrong answer?

Me: I emotionally step back to be sure I’m seeing all sides. I identify the issue, discuss possible solutions and agree on resolution

A colleague and I did not have the same views. We became sassy to each other. I reached out to my manager to see about an in person meeting. I was always told it would happen. Never did. Now I play nice to keep the peace but it was never resolved.

And they lived happily ever after. That answer never applies to actual conflict in real life workplaces. As if.

I see conflict as a challenge because without it a team can’t see what is an issue that needs attention. Conflict+Discussion=Positive results

I have an issue with a client who I have dealt with and serviced for over a year. She is curt, hardly uses my name and her tone is off when she emails me. I would like to flag this with my manager but I feel my Manager won't do anything as the client is important. How would you handle this type if conflict?

YES - this is the question asked in every interview I had! Employers need you to be able to quickly & professionally handle conflict. Also, what I found helpful is to use an example that was recent - don’t tell them about how you handled conflict last year - make sure it’s recent.
