This!!! I’ve slowly been realizing how I was actually being mistreated throughout a lot of our relationship but I was so blinded by loving this person so much that I never noticed. Now when I find myself reminiscing and missing them I just think if they actually loved me they would have never betrayed me the way they did and I just move on.

I try to get to that realization but it keeps clashing with the knowledge of how they loved me. How can someone love you like that but still end up betraying you and hurting you. I try to make sense of it but it doesn’t click, I can’t comprehend how that coexists within someone

it feels a lot safer to tell ourselves they’re a good person who just made a mistake than to sit with the possibility that they were a bad person all along and had us fooled… it’s really scary and destabilizing to feel like we completely misjudged a persons character for such a long time when they were so close to us.

I keep having to remind myself that the person they were the first 3-4 months is NOT the real them. Who she showed me the last 3 months was the real her, so mean, cold and distant out of no where. I had to let go!

So true. It is SO hard to process and accept it. Especially when you’d never have done it to them. Especially when you never thought they’d do something like that to you. But in the end, as painful as it may be, you should be grateful that they showed you their true colors

You can truly shift the perspective on it and say that because they did something bad that wasn’t their true self and however, they have been showing their selves the whole time through good actions and intentions. It just depends on how you wanna see it.
