@zachmovesabroad: Replying to @Soulhappy2601 I do appreciate it. As I explained in this video, sometimes it was hard not to internalize but again this is part of the many reasons why we decided to move. It's already gotten so much better and I've started to realize much about myself since being here. #parentingabroad #travelingwithkids #exploreuk #explorescotland #travelingfamily
youre going to feel like you're being overly sensitive because of how you're used to being treated.
You have a built in response and you can fault yourself for it one bit

It is sad. I’m so happy that you and your family are having a positive experience here in the UK. Most of us are just getting on with our lives and just want to live peacefully and happily with everyone. Sending kindest wishes to you all xxx

Your posts are giving me such an insight into the internal considerations you are constantly navigating. It’s making me think, but also about how much of your mental load goes towards these considerations - that just don’t have to address in my daily life. I hope you find your way back to Derbyshire /Peak District and find a deep belonging and a quietening of these worries. To live happily in your chosen home x

As a local: in the city centre parks and such, people likely won't chat as much, and the locals that would are often too used to tourists and feel they want left alone to enjoy their holiday (1)

It’s understandable with that first interaction to see it as something it maybe wasn’t if that’s all you’ve been used to but I’m so glad you’re having a good experience here

It’s hard to upset us as a people for the most part so never worry you’re stepping in it. And yeah as a country we are diverse. As an island we need that.

Dude you are clearly not 'less than' as a parent. Just the way you come across, it seems to me you're a pretty amazing dad.

Give people the benefit of the doubt until they prove otherwise. As girl from Scotland we are quite friendly. I always think Edinburgh have so many tourists and it’s a city. Explore different other places a bit more rural you’ll find we will chat and help you. We are quite hospitable

Parks in the UK are super important to us and to communities in general, I grew up in a block of flats so my garden was the local park and that's the same now for a lot of people. They're the hearts of communities, all communities.

I’m so glad you’re having positive experiences here with the people. I wish you had time to come to Glasgow. Everyone talks to you (sometimes it’s not a good thing). In parks with the kids most of the adults have a wee chat at some point. Even just a smile to each other. The kids all just mix and play. As it should be. 💝

We are lovely people, if you’re friendly we are friendly back. London is different because it doesn’t have that community cohesion anymore

people are people here people will judge on what sort of person you are rather than what skin colour you are to the most par if you're a good person you get treated as good person. Edinburgh is less social because its got the big city vibe lol its not the best place to be social.

You may notice it even more with the older generations, particularly as a guy. My mum is 80yrs and still thinks a Dad out with his kids is some kind of superhero lol! I guess it comes from historically men would go out to work and not be hugely involved with the kids (women's work). Obv times have changed but if you see older folk watching, smiling or just in awe..it is likely that lol 🥰

Thats what I love about London
the culture mix - people from all over the world. I work in the city, it is a literal mix of vibrant colour.
