Not only did Tinkerbell not want her talent but I believe Rosetta also would have chosen something else if given the choice. She is a garden fairy but hates getting dirty and dirt is the main component of gardening.

That’s because the movies didn’t properly adapt from the books! Your fairy talent comes from your biggest passions and things that bring you joy (although a servant fairy is wild) that’s why you have sewing fairies, baking fairies, theater fairies and so on

The only possible reason I can think of for why Tinkers live in the slums of Pixie Hollow is because their inventions can explode and it's probably less work to make them live away from everyone else

The slums?????? Pixie hollow houses reflect each individual talent, the garden fairies live inside flower bulbs, the fast fairies (like vidia) are in willow trees, the water fairies live inside shells, the pixie dust fairies live in the pixie dust tree and the tinkers live in HANDMADE HOUSES because… they invent and built things. There are no “slums” they’re all beautiful little pocket villages that fit each talent’s aesthetic and vibe.
