@maggiestips: If I Were Visiting Napa Valley for the First Time (From Someone Who Lived & Worked There): Wineries I’d skip 👇 - Domaine Carneros – gorgeous views, sure, but it feels more like a photo op than an experience. Go to Schramsberg instead — same bubbles, way more soul (and caves!). - V. Sattui – feels like a field trip stop. Instead, head to Heitz for history, elegance, and seriously good Cabernet. - Beringer – more theme park than tasting room. Faust is the cooler, modern alternative with some of the best architecture and wine in the valley. Bonus: catch golden hour at Cliff Lede — the perfect mix of music, art, and sunset views that actually feel like Napa. #napavalley #napawine #winetok #napavalleyguide

Napa makes auto parts. Sonoma makes wine.

Tourists go to napa, Californians go to Sonoma.,.,,,except the cab the wine is better and some prefer Sonoma cabs …..Sonoma has ocean, river thru redwoods, redwoods, better towns. List is endless

Who remembers when wine tasting in Napa was free and about the wine and not about being a status symbol?

Sonoma local: Domaine is a nice experience (and I prefer their sparkling) and you shouldn’t cross it off your list.

I loved Schramsberg and their caves were so amazing. Plus they had a cat wandering around outside

V Sattui is good for a picnic and a glass, not for wine tasting

Or.. avoid this pretentious snooty region entirely, and go to Paso Robles. Beautiful, WAY less snooty, more affordable, and better wines!

And everyone avoid that damn castle. I hate going with people who’ve never been to Napa and they have to go to the castle 😭

Unpopular opinion but Silver Oak is not my favorite and so overrated.

V Suttui is great if you have kids with you - as many people seem to do these days. Get some bottles, food and have a picnic on the lawn.

Growing up in Healdsburg I watched the wineries change. It is so sad to see how they are now. It used to be enjoyable and relaxing and intimate. Now it is all corporate and rigid and bland.

Beringer was such a let down! The property was gorgeous, but I was not wow’d by the wine/tasting experience itself. I’ll definitely have to check out some of your suggestions though! Thank you!

I think that’s great to provide reviews but the people that are going to be the most affected by negative reviews will be its workers. Why not just recommend what you enjoy?

Calistoga wineries are great. August Briggs no longer has their nice white barn but their wines are still amazing. Chateau montelena has nice reds and world famous Chardonnay.
