I attended a nice private high school. We were not rich but my mom could sew amazingly well so we would go to nice stores, look at the trends. This was in the late 90’s so it was Laura Ashley & Ralph Lauren floral skirts. We’d then go to the fabric store, pick out similar fabric, find a skirt pattern that my mom could alter if necessary. She would then spend an hour or two and make me the most expensive looking, beautiful skirts. I always looked high end. I wish I still had those clothes. My mom was & is the most amazing mother ♥

Grew up as an MK - my Mom sewed all my clothes! I wish I enjoyed it as much as she did or had half her talent. She’d copy store bought things for me

All are so beautiful! I had a fear of sewing after breaking the sewing machines in Home Ec in high school 😂 but I bought a sewing machine last year and my best friend that works in wardrobe in film gave me some lessons so now all of my grandchildren get blankets every holiday . I do buy old patterns at estate sales and one day I want to sew from those patterns.

Love this! Can’t believe you didn’t want people to know that you made these beautiful clothes!! My mom was a beautiful seamstress and could make anything! Just finished watching House of Eliott on britbox. You can find it on Prime. I wonder if you would like it. It’s old (2007) but so fantastic!

I just went thru my case of fabric on a hunt for some Velcro today and it made me sad that I packed it all up to make room for another hobby in my office. My sewing machine is always at arms length but seeing all my old fabrics makes me want to empty my office and move all that fabric back in
