no they are not, especially the VAs. The naturally aspirated Subarus are the ones that blow their gaskets. It takes a lot to blow a VAs gasket.

Idk about EJs but FA engines aren’t known for blowing head gaskets. That was a problem with the older Subarus now piston rings on the other hand… 🙃

The ej blows up because the oil sit on the headgasket in the corners of the heads and burns threw the head gasket… the fa20 doesn’t because they changed that design.

The FA and FB motors do not have the head gasket issues that the EJ did. The cam cover gaskets are notorious for leaking on the FB engines but typically a straight forward repair.

The ej257 is not known to Blow head gasket it was the ej255 that was known to Blow head gasket it’s all in the pays and the fa20 is les reliable than an ej257

turbo EJ's eat rod and main bearings head gasket issues were the older EJ's due to the cheap single layer gaskets used from the factory. Once replaced with MLS head gaskets that issue isnt an issue anymore.
