![[#SELECTIVEMUTISM ] | As someone who has always struggled with selective mutism, I decided to make this edit and use my reach to spread awareness. Living with it for most of my life, I can say that we do not choose to be silent. For me personally and that’s different for everyone, selective mutism has always been a huge struggle in my live, especially in school, but also online. It’s not just about being afraid to talk in certain situations. For me, it’s being completely terrified of sharing feelings, speaking, texting, or even just being in public. I’ve never made many friends, because what seems easy for others is extremely hard for me. Even texting online with kind people, or especially writing in group chats, is overwhelming. Sharing and expressing my feelings has always been difficult. I never really received support: I’ve never had therapy, and I didn’t have parents who supported me. Even my closest friends don’t know I have selective mutism. (If anyones sees this now you know :) )Only very few people know, because I’ve never been able to tell anyone myself. With this video, I want to reach people all over the world—whether you struggle with selective mutism or have never heard of it before. To those who struggle: you are not alone, and you never will be. Even if it sometimes feels like only a few of us are out there, I want you to know you are never alone. And to those who didn’t know about it before: now you do. It would mean so much if you could share this video and help spread awareness—not only for me, but also for others who live with selective mutism and might not be able to share it the way I do.
