Okay, but like, you know those super racist and rude "Moon Man" memes of the early 2010s? They were actually far closer to original character he was based off of than the corpro-sized McDonalds version Mac Tonight. He was inspired by the character Max Headroom, who himself was a modern take on popular 1920s song Mack the Knife, which itself was an english version of the popular German "Die Moritat von Mackie Messer", a popular section from the Threepenny Opera. The main character of which, Mack, was a direct copy of amd heavily inspired by Macbeth from the 1720s "The Beggars Opera". In "The Beggers Opera" Macbeth is a total villian, full on evil with rape and murder, everything you can think of thats evil, Macbeth did it, overly so to an almost comedic point. It was written to criticize how the aristocrats of the era were brainless and lacked critical thinking, and would applaud and cheer anything funny or interesting, without looking any deeper, but also to jab at how horrible living conditions were for the common man at the time. Macbeth was a foul mouthed anti-establishment racist criminal, turned song material, turned "folk hero", turned corpo mascot, before coming back to his roots as Moon Man.
