She confronted a couple because one of them was wearing clothing with the word “Palestine” on it. According to police and witnesses, she shouted at them and became aggressive. She grabbed the man. She also allegedly tried to throw hot coffee at the woman, who was pregnant at the time. The man stepped in front of his wife to protect her. She was charged with two felony hate crime counts and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. Prosecutors say the attack was motivated by perceived nationality or ethnicity, which is why hate crime charges were added. she pleaded not guilty. The judge ordered her to stay away from the victims and banned her from returning to the Panera location while the case is ongoing.
