@ditsy_floral: Fashion is so much more than the way we dress and it's particularly the case with 'Boho' styles. Bohemian fashion has always been my biggest style inspiration and as I've got older it's also been a political stance. Embracing its unique, thrifted, maximalist elements that take inspiration from so many cultures has been a way to oppose fast fashion and Capitalism. Because a truly Bohemian outfit can never be linked or re-created by Shein. However, I also think it's important to understand the origin of styles and the flowing maxi skirts, flare sleeves, paisley patterns, layered jewellery and mixed textures are often lumped together under the term 'Boho', thereby erasing their influence from Romani, Indian, Chinese, Native American & so many other cultures. I think to truly love Bohemian fashion and to use it as a political stance we must celebrate these influences! Maybe that starts with understanding the history like I've tried to do in this post.
