@detailingessentials: Oxidation is an symptom of an underlying condition. You will only keep it at bay. The permanent fix is a repaint #autodetailer #detailers #detailing #cardetailing #cardetailer
Chemist here. Oxidation is a chemical reaction with the clear coat…. So it should be able to removed from the superficial layers… question is how deep does it go… there a more nuance than simply saying “you cannot remove oxidation”.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question. Will ceramic coating prevent any of what you said will return

Oxidation does not start from the inside.

Yup! It is a chemical breakdown from oxygen of the paint.

Would re-painting the oxidized surface stop the problem? @Polish & Punish Academy

Wow I didn’t know that, I have an 85 and removed oxidation awhile ago then it came back. So I removed again and ceramic coated and now I keep it in a garage atleast. That’s good to know

I’ve also seen single stage paint with not enough hardener added. You can make it shiny for a while, but it’s always going to be…milky?

oxidation is a layer which occurs in the paint once it has come in contact with oxygen. it is due to a chemical reaction. it does not happen from the inside out, and you can absolutely remove an oxidated paint layer. bro is talking nonsense 🤡🤡🤡

Depending on the paint, if it’s in older cars where it’s single stage, then yes, oxidation will return if not maintained properly. Modern clear coats protect the paint, once that clear coat breaks down then oxidation sets in. Depending on the coatings used after cleaning and polishing, will slow the oxidation process down. All based on vehicles parked outside in the elements.
