I minored in linguistics for anyone who wants a small fun fact about the Texan accent. The accent has strong similarities to West Country English accents, most notably in how rhythmic the speech pattern can be. The Texan accent (across all demographics) is unique in its lack of tongue movement. A classic Texan accent sees the tongue stay somewhat idle and further back in the mouth, allowing for a deeper, more rustic tone. Try it when you say “y’all” “Fixin to” “Yes ma’am/No ma’am”
