The poacher thing, protecting them, I understand. But on the other hand… they’re grizzlies. They’re not docile creatures. If they’re hungry, they’re going to eat. Like you said, they don’t care that you want to be their friend. Like, my favorite wild animal is polar bears. I would love to protect them, but I also know that they would take me out in a heartbeat. Idk. I feel like that’s just common sense.

yea (not so) fun fact, he had friends that would go out and check up on him via helicopter to make sure he was, yk, alive, and well one day someone checks up on him and they see the place trashed with a severed leg on the ground. RIP to the both of them

Nps.gov (Case Incident 03-109) you can read the full report. No the audio you heard was a reenactment. It was raining in the real audio for one and the report states the audio was destroyed with the only remaining copy sent to AST Major Master for return to the Treadwell estate. The report does give you a ton of details including the medical examiner’s report, incident reports from Alaska Fish & Game, Katmai National Park and Preserve, state of Alaska Public Safety, Etc. ; it includes a breakdown of the video contents as well as injuries sustained, & even the Bears stomach contents. He set up his camp on a convergence site of bear trails leading to a salmon feeding location (so yeah a fatal choice) him being labeled as an expert camper was accurate however got too comfortable leading to disregards in safety. The reports are not an appealing read but very informative.

the audio is actually a recreated version due to the horrific nature to it. only a handful of people have listened to it. unfortunately he was not completely mentally well which is part of the reason why he was so comfortable with being with the bears
