the statistics is skewed by Atherton which is the richest per capita in the country. Rest of San Mateo county is just normal people but yes with incredible natural beauty. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

How exactly do you Caltrain to Tahoe? Also, I grew up in Burlingame before moving to San Mateo. Burlingame is out of this world, insanely Rich. San Mateo at least feels a bit approachable (and yea, I understand this post is about the entire county and not just San Mateo city).

I remember growing up in the 70s my parents still have a three bedroom modest ranch House on east side of El Camino in San Mateo we wouldn't even consider ourselves closed middle class back then in 2025 the same neighborhood those homes now go for 2.8 mil people who now live in the neighborhood are millionaires and a totally class of people the old people who who used to lived in those homes back in the seventies and eighties would be doing construction cleaning and doing landscaping for the class of people who are currently living in the same neighborhood how things change

Lived in SMCo all my life. Your description is spot on. Sadly, the wealth of the SV has de-villaged most of the quiet, eclectic towns like Belmont, San Carlos, Redwood City, to the point where the original occupants cant even pay the property tax and will soon be gone. Still, there’s no place like it and the weather is unbeatable. 650 forever!
