I find it so strange how strict it all is over there. I drove from England to France, through Belgium and the Netherlands to get to Germany and I the only question I was asked at the French boarder was “how was your trip?”

My US partner getting into the EU: agent asks him the purpose of his stay, he goes „fleeing my country“ (it was a joke), agent laughs, wishes him a safe trip. Me getting into the US: 15 questions about me, my trip, my location, my relationship, at the end I try to make a joke and wish the agent a nice day. Didnt even get a smile, just a deadpan stare 😐

When I lived in WA, I drove into Vancouver for a quick day trip once, and bought a skirt at a mall. Driving back to the US, border patrol had me literally crying like I was a smuggler shrugs or something 😭 over a $12 SKIRT!
