Not really, based on your daughter’s visible characteristics, (she does not fix her gaze or interact with her surroundings, the absence of the ability to swallow, the constant flexed posture) indicates damage to the bulbar nuclei or a cortico-bulbar disconnection. Therefore, it is not a cognitive disability or a neurodevelopmental condition, she is not an special needs child, but rather she has an acquired brain injury with complete loss of consciousness. Probably this corresponds to a hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, a lack of oxygen and blood flow to the brain occurring around delivery.

All due respect, you can spin these comments whichever way you please but in the end, your underage daughter(s) are not able to consent to their private medical information being on the internet. Education, advocacy, and inclusion can be done without displaying the vulnerable moments of a child’s life. Go ahead, call me an ableist that doesn’t like the way your daughter looks, I sleep just fine at night knowing I wouldn’t exploit the most vulnerable.

I love this. I am 35 and grew up with a brother with special needs. There was no representation for him, back then. I WISH I saw people like him. It would have made me feel so much better.
