Some home grown corn that we planted in northern Arizona by the Diné/Navajo. The corn we plant has been passed down from the ladies in our family. From our ancestral grandmothers to us. 🥰

The Industrial Revolution would’ve never happened without the excess calories gained from corn and potatoes. Which have an insane yield where the only comparable old world crop was rice. But Corn and Potatoes were far more sturdy.

so cool! I remember being in elementary school and they taught us that corn used to be a few kernels on the end of a blade of grass. This makes so much more sense

That’s super cool! Do you know about Sierra Mixe corn? It is a variety from Oaxaca Mexico and it’s a naturally nitrogen fixing corn that produces slime that acts as a matrix for nitrogen fixing bacteria.
