I do agree that money = happiness is a bad message but that's not what I took from the ending of back to the future. it can be argued that their happiness caused the confidence and drive that resulted in more money.

Crispin was able to effect laws and regulations which ended up benefitting all other actors after him. Bob Gale repeatedly tried to "Other" him by saying he was weird, as he does here. He also wasnt wrong, and they very clearly used his idea in Part II. Bob Gale and the Studio just didnt value him and thought he'd be a pushover.

Crispin was wrong about the ending. George gained confidence, which changed his relationships and Lorraine had more security as a result. But also, money DOES affect happiness. We need to stop falling for the myth that having your basic needs taken care of doesn’t affect happiness.

Here is why Cispin Glover is wrong. The ending of that movie was never about money to the audience. It was about confidence. The success was of his Life was changed from being picked on to overcoming a bully, it never one time occurred to me that now he had more wealth. What you saw a confident man who now had raised a great family because he was no longer in fear of life.
