@i_am_rabbit6: Hello! I keep reposting this because I really want this to garner traction due to the amount of misinformation about DID floating around. People usually just chalk it up to alters, but that isn’t all that it is. DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) is a disorder caused by repetitive or intense trauma usually between the ages 7-12. It is a fragmentation of the personality. These personality fragments have amnesia barriers that form between them and create their own forms of identity, also known as alters. This is a form of a defense mechanism to try to protect the mind from the trauma that caused the fragmentation as memories get passed to different alters or simply repressed. However, the amnesia barriers creates intense dissociation, brain fog, and the presence of multiple identities creates confusion and a lack of self. Each alter, however, is formed for a different “job” in the mind. Some hold memories, some hold the intrusive thoughts the mind can’t handle, others deal with socializing, and some people have alters that come out for certain things like school or work. This is called a system. To clear up some things: There is no “original” alter. It’s a fragmentation, not mitosis. Poly fragmented systems exist. Fictive heavy systems exist. Most of the time, fake claiming is more harmful than good. ok thanks Resources: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/9792-dissociative-identity-disorder-multiple-personality-disorder https://deconstructingstigma.org/guides/did https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/types-of-mental-health-problems/dissociation-and-dissociative-disorders/dissociative-disorders/ https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/dissociative-disorders/symptoms-causes/syc-20355215 #MentalHealth #mentalhealthmatters #MentalHealthAwareness #dissociativeidentitydisorder #representationmatters

Not diagnosed with anything and I'd rather assume I'm fine but I experience a lot of these and it's throwing me off 😞😞 especially just suddenly waking up and realizing i felt like I wasn't present for a few days, sigh.

I have really bad dissociation where I just sit on the floor for hours, I got diagnosed 2 months ago and it is the worst thing I ever experienced, I cry randomly and I barely feel real at this point

tbh ppl around me always say I'm a system or I show clear signs, but I don't notice anything other than like 3/4ths of the symptoms you have (I haven't done any research) and it just makes me question if my trauma caused cptsd or a did adjacent disorder, it's so confusing..

I've experience quite a few of these and have done research on OSDD, I suspect I may have some disassociative disorder, but I'm waiting for when I can actually get help (I'm not in a place where it is physically possible /srs) so I can get proper diagnosis for what I may have.

This is so real 😭 suspected OSDD here, it doesn’t help that our trauma isn’t the typical “intense” traumatic events that people always talk about, so I’m always scared people will fake claim us because of it

gunna just be in denial still 😅😅 I'm trying to get out of the abuse that's caused it... but I don't want to loose shaedo either. she's apart of me and who protects me when no one else will. I get scared when people hurt me... so I just step back and let her take over to keep me safe. she's like a hug when no one else would give it to me and that makes me feel safe in this scary world 🥹
