Was there something wrong with the Hall Effect Sensors on the old PCB? Looked fine to me. Usually they don't break easily that way when there's a cable short. They're much cheaper to replace than the entire assembly btw... You can buy a set of 10, 25, 50 or even 100 for a few bucks on AliExpress.
