I live in Florida and every time a storm is predicted to hit here, people ask if they should still come. Some even say the safest place to be during a hurricane is Disney World. No. The safest place to be during a hurricane is not in the path of a hurricane. I get it’s disappointing, but if there’s a hurricane, cancel or reschedule your trip. You’re taking resources away from locals.

there's a girl showing how she's staying in the staff bunker. that's a spot that a local could have taken. and the staff is still there cooking and serving them, instead of prepping with their families

I am someone who has been through multiple bad hurricanes. I can get those who have never experienced it thinking it is no big deal. But it IS a big deal. They want to go on a fun vacation, then complain when Mother Nature comes. You booked your freaking vacation during hurricane season! Granted, it would be hit or miss. Most times the vacation would be wonderful. But don’t complain when your vacation is cut short. Really?

Nobody is flying in right now. The people who are there got there before the airports closed. It’s not like they can evacuate now. Telling people not to travel to a country that relies on tourism during hurricane season isn’t wise. These storms sometimes develop over night & The season lasts 3 months.

It’s enraging. I will not book a trip during hurricane season first of all. Secondly, the resources they are taking away from the people who actually live there, then they have the gall to get mad that hotel workers leave to be with families and nobody there to serve them 🙄 I have property in FL and the tourist are worst nightmare! So much entitlement

We have had a timeshare in Freeport Bahamas for 15 years. When they had their really bad hurricane I think in 2018 we whats appd our driver and the people that became our family and asked them what they needed. We sent cash and then packages when they were able to receive them a little later. There were people on their Facebook page asking when they could schedule their vacations just WEEKS after!! They didnt even have an airport anymore! It was sickening. Yeah it sucked we had to pay our fees for 2 years and not go but damn let the locals take care of their community. Prayers to Jamaica 🇯🇲
