@reasonandreligion: Pessimistic philosophers have a way of elucidating the underlying features of the human condition in a beautiful yet tragic manner — Cioran is one of them. #philosophy #philosophytiktok #BookRecommendations #camus #BookTok
I’v read Schopenhauer when i was 25. Bro killed me inside, but i liked it.

I found the stranger by Camus extremely depressing. Even reading it in the city of Lucerne was depressing…

i started philosophy by reading cioran : on the height of despair
from my pount of view and my expérience he was not the one to start with but the expérience was definitly worthy what i loved about him was the poetic way of presenting dispaire and suffering

Sounds very Johan Liebert.
"There's nothing special about being born. Not a thing. Most of the universe is just death, nothing more. In this universe of ours, the birth of a new life on some corner of our planet is nothing but a tiny, insignificant flash. Death is a normal thing. So why live?"

Open minded philosophy should lead to not labeling your beliefs, but line up your ethics

I read The Trouble with Being Born a few years ago, and I absolutely adored it. It's one of my favorite books. I suffer from insomnia, and he has one quote that is magisterial:
"What was that one crucifixion compared to the nightly one the insomniac endures?"
I'm writing from memory, so I may be a little off but he is so right. I'm looking forward to reading A Short History of Decay.

Both pessimistic and optimistic philosophy’s are idiotic and emotionally biast. Realist philosophy, is key. Also nihilism is not pessimistic by nature.

An aphorism from The Trouble With Being Born: "I wish to be free - free as the stillborn are free."
Had to put the book down for a moment.

CHRISTWOLF :
Currently reading «A short history of decay», interesting as it reads much more as a continuous essayistic poem than a classical philosophical essay. It of course as pessimistic as one would think, but his thoughts about fanaticism and zealously is perhaps the most convincing view ive read about.
