I read that the people living there now have no ties to the ancient Egyptians at all, I love Egyptian history but as a single woman I wouldn't be safe. 😭

went here when I was 11, several men tried to either buy me off my parents, or just walk off with me. my dad had to physically wrestle me off one guy who just out his arms round my shoulders and tried to march me off. that was almost 20 years ago and it seems its just got worse

It’s not a quarry, it’s the site of the old boat museum. The museum was dismantled and the boat was relocated to the grand museum in 2021

I'm glad I went and saw it all last year but never again 😅 we were so lucky we had amazing tour guides but it was so tiring bieng pestered.I did turn the tables on one of them though.He was pulling stuff from his bag trying to sell it to me so I started doing the same because i had some mini embroided purses on me id brought earlier that day.He actually found it amusing and we had a laugh about it in the end.He was a good sport 😂 .You have two options with them.either tell them to go away firmly then pretend they aren't there or do reverse psychology lol.
