Felt this very young and accepted that this existence is a happy little accident and life is ‘meaningless’ but I choose to believe that it’s worth living BECAUSE it’s meaningless and I won’t get to do it again, might as well give it a go.

Giant Elk invested all of their time and energy into being massive and hoarded resources to produce giant vanity antlers just for show. Regular elk have thrived. If anything this should be a story of hope that the billionaire class who hoard wealth for vanity will extinct themselves.

Existential Elk true story: My dad (philosophy degree) was literally 💀 by an elk in 2009. The elk darted into the road and my dad hit it broadside on his motorcycle. The elk also 💀. I bet Dad would have been amused by this philosophical discussion.

I selfishly want to continue living but won’t do anything to improve my life. I don’t want to cease existing, but I algo don’t feel compelled to find purpose in life. I don’t understand anything, and I understand a lot at the same time. My most intimate desire has been to never have had this thirst for knowledge and wisdom. I wish I could’ve stayed religious and accepted things as they “were”. But I can’t go back now and just ignore everything I now know and understand. Knowledge has been both my savior and my curse. This is painful and irrelevant at the same time. I just can’t get it.

If Oblivion is all that awaits after death then everything we do is meaningless. If some people truly believed that, then they would end it all now, but most of the time they don't. Deep down, everyone knows that there's something more going on.

i actually love this philosophy , ive already known that human conciousness has gone too far for years , and i dont see a real point to any of this , my thoughts have caused me a lot of major depression ever since i was very young , but his "last messiah" way of living really speaks to me . im already anti-natalist but ive been struggling a lot with my place in this world and if any of my efforts in school or self improvement is actually worth the time and energy, so ive just pushed away my thoughts and "cut off my antlers" by distracting myself with schoolwork and addictions . something about allowing myself to have the antlers and stop pushing away my nihilistic beliefs and just letting myself sit in the discomfort of this absurd , pointless reality but turning that grief into something tangible , all the while observing society , it seems peacefull and less overwhelming than living in denial .
