the ppl in these comments r actually so bitter mean and wrong!! literally by law u are considered moroccan. u can apply for moroccan id at the consulate and everything! morocco allows dual citizenship. u actually couldn’t stop being moroccan even if u wanted to 😭

It’s never too late to learn! I started learning at 12 and became fluent at 15 but the biggest thing that helped me was letting them laugh as long as they corrected me. I also learned to ask what everything meant if I didn’t understand. Honestly when they laugh it isn’t because they are making fun of you but because it’s cute. Kinda like when a nonenglish person is learned an they make a mistake and we laugh. We don’t mean anything by it. You got this girl!

Morocco is a very diverse country, many Moroccans from the atlas and rif don't even speak Darija. and many don't practice Islam, including me

My mom is also American and my dad is Moroccan I’ve only been there once lol and i can understand basic things in darija but I struggle forming sentences but I could see you passing for Moroccan but your blue eyes just throw it off and if u had black hair everyone would be able to tell. My dad gets upset when he puts me on the phone with his sisters and I can barely speak like it’s not my fault I talk to my mom more and my dad also only really speaks English

You don’t owe anything to anyone. If the’re not happy it’s their problem not yours. You’re not going to shapeshift to people’s will. I’ve had a similar issue and i just ignored them. There are more than enough people that don’t make a fuss about it
