She is wrong. Hurricane windows can blow out. The winds are stronger higher up. Move all projectiles (flower pots, furniture, etc) inside. You need to fill the tubs and all cups with water. Wash sheets and towels, take a shower, load a cooler with ice, charge your devices and prep an interior room with blankets, water. I went through Ian and legitimately have a Ph.D. in Emergency management.

I build hurricane engineered roofing for Caribbean. There is nothing man made that can withstand a CAT 4 for that long.

Hmmm. As a native Floridian, “youre good” doesnt always cut it in a cat 5. Rated hurricane windows only work if the wood doesn’t break, if nothing flies through and breaks the glass. I would be nowhere in that room when this thing hits. Also, we lost an entire home in a cat 5 - a CONCRETE home.

False hope!! Get to an internal room! Fill up all tubs and sinks. I’m from south Louisiana and been through many storms. I was traumatized by a cat 3 so I can’t imagine a 4/5!! Praying for you!!

Girl… I was there for beryl last year. You will def have no electricity, water or data/wifi. Those windows, even if they don’t shatter, water will find its way in. I stayed at a large villa and whole time I was trying to clean up water pouring in. Appreciate that she is calming you but it’s slight delusion. You NEED to prepare more. See those mango trees… yeah those mangos WILL fly into the windows. TRUST.
