Also don't eat pure sodium. It's a spicy metal.

Different types of salt have different levels of sodium as well.

Why must they include math in all of this mess? I already have multiple chronic illnesses, I was never a math brain and I’ve got a ton of brain fog (some of that comes from the untreated ADHD) so I’m bound to mess up on this especially when I really need sodium 😭

100% as someone with suspected POTS, and a nurse this is SUPER important info. Electrolytes are SUPER sensitive and it’s so important to make sure you’re “messing” with them in the right way. Please make sure you educate yourself and discuss with your providers especially if you don’t frequently get blood work to avoid an imbalance 💕

This is my Roman Empire!!! People say they’re eating 3g of salt and I’m like babe that’s below the RDV for normies. But also I have genuinely have had 10,000mg of sodium in a day (kinda by accident, wasn’t shooting THAT high lol) but like, I’m adding 4,000mg to tube feeds, plus 1,000mg in formula, plus eating orally, it’s basically impossible just through food.

I mean salt is sodium. It’s NaCl sodium chloride. There’s also sodium nitrates sodium hydroxide, sodium phosphate, disodium phosphate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, and so many more. Not all of which are safe. So when we hear sodium intake we think salt(table salt). Because that’s our main source of sodium. So if a doctor is wanting us to increase these then they should be specific. Not everyone even knows what sodium is.

can confirm that "sprinking salt in your water" does absolutely nothing for me, but drinking electrolytes makes it very obvious that I'm actually hydrated for once
