@pepper.steps: i'll stick to talking ABOVE WATER, from now on, i guess! that fuzz you see is called marine red algae, or rhodophyta! it grows on volcanic rock and acts like underwater glue! its calcium-rich walls help cement coral reefs and rocky shores together so they don’t crumble apart. tons of sea life depend on it: snails, urchins, and tiny crustaceans munch on it, and small fish hide inside the fuzzy clumps for safety. and the wildest part? some red algae are used to make carrageenan and agar, which are natural thickeners that keep your ice cream creamy and your toothpaste smooth. so i guess everyones got a sailor's mouth! haha! #plantfacts #marinelife #PlantLover #redalga #DidYouKnow
