When I was on my first maternity leave, I spent so much time soaking up every moment with my baby. The slow mornings. The cuddles. The walks. The little milestones that you'll never get back. And then before I knew it, my maternity leave was coming to an end. I remember thinking about going back to work and feeling completely heartbroken. Not because I hated my job. Not because I didn't want to work. But because I wasn't ready. I wasn't ready to leave my baby. I wasn't ready for that chapter to be over. But I convinced myself I didn't have a choice. And that was the mistake. I thought going back to work before I was ready was my only option. So I went back. And whilst I got on with it, deep down I knew I never wanted to feel like that again. So when I went on maternity leave the second time, I made myself a promise. I wasn't going to spend that time wishing things were different and then end up back in the exact same position. I wanted options. Which is why I started learning about digital products, Canva and creating things online. I wasn't looking to build some huge business. I wasn't trying to become an influencer. I simply wanted to create another option for myself and my family. And that one decision has not only allowed me to create extra income from home but it’s also helped me extend my maternity leave and reduce my hours for when I returned to work 🥹 But most importantly, it gave me something I didn't have the first time around... A choice.
