To be clear: this is NOT a blame game and I don’t need anyone to defend me. The other owners were completely justified in being upset and shaken up. It was a terrible situation that we will hopefully get through with honesty and compassion ❤

The other dog’s owners were justified in feeling upset and shaken up but screaming at someone in the street and saying their emaciated dog shouldn’t be outside is unhinged behaviour

ugh I understand the owners reaction. But the ppl on the streets? You can SEE whimsy is a rescue. You can see her abuse on her body. This wasn’t your fault, Isabel. This isn’t whimsy’s fault either. I’m so sorry that this happened and the reactions of everyone around you.

AND as awful as this is, it’s better for it to happen now than when she’s in her forever home, as Isabel is such an experienced foster & the connections/resources she and Muddy Paws have. I’m confident Whimsy can work through this❤

You couldn’t have known. Behavioral stuff can come out once basic needs start being met, and pain/medical issues could be part of it as well. Either way, take care of yourself, friend. 💕

i would pay attention to what type of dog it was. since she hasn't had a reaction with any other dogs then it could have been trauma from a specific interaction with a dog in the past, and maybe that dog was the trigger

I have mixed feelings on this and may tick off some people. On one hand, dog behavior is never completely predictable even if raised with kind guidance and things can happen. On the other hand, you have a dog that you know very little about yet are walking her out and around people and dogs who are not aware of or invested in her rescue.

This is a real side of fostering though, so many people need to see. I love the content you put out and how many people have signed up to foster because of YOU, but there is a painful/stressful side to it as well. I am so so sorry this happened for everyone involved.
