So cut the piece one inch bigger… and cut pumpkin teeth into that extra inch and then fold the teeth it’ll pop in and lock in the J channel. No nail required or glue

I have been installing for 25 years now . If you use the proper sealant . That piece will never come off .

I used to use a nail punch to put a trim nail just underneath one of the double four grooves along with the caulk

You can use your snips to crimp the lock and it will lock in really well and stay with no fasteners
