I find that going through a little bit of depression, especially if your FEARS are genuine, is necessary. Hopefully, the person eventually finds their way to address those FEARS or let go of the DESIRES that lead them to that, but this needs time and self analysis to happen, which enough depression is usually the catalyst for change. Ignoring your FEARS doesnt address them, they'll resurface...
