Saw a discussion about this topic on Ivanavladislava’s Instagram, and I think she explained it well. Versace is trying to become more exclusive, and that comes with a higher price. The brand is currently not among the most valuable ones because we can see that “everyone” can wear Versace….it’s no longer just clothing for the upper class. I lowkey think it’s a smart move to attract more exclusive customers. I think Chanel had a similar strategy.

Great dive, it makes me ask the question though "exciting for who?". I shopped at Versace frequently, and am doing well career wise, but at this price range it's a lot less accessible for myself and their previous consumer. Makes me wonder how much these brands are here to be inspirational but inaccessible to the "average person"
