This is a very unfair approach. If someone is changing price tags or switching labels, the person monitoring the CCTV should intervene immediately and inform the customer that what they are are doing is wrong. That way, the person has a chance to stop before making a bigger mistake. Human beings are naturally susceptible to temptation. Instead, they watch the entire incident, then call the police and have the person arrested. This can seriously damage the person's dignity and reputation. In many developing or middle-income countries, cases involving small grocery items are often resolved by having the person pay for the items rather than involving the police. Here, however, people—including women—are being handed over to the police. Some of them may have been acting out of genuine hardship or necessity. For minor grocery-related incidents, this does not seem like the most appropriate or compassionate way to handle the situation.
