It wiped a year off my memory completely and left me with permanent memory problems. And didn't even help with depression

I study neurostimulation in my PhD. ECT is the most successful, widely available treatment for individuals with depression who do not respond to antidepressants. It actively saves lives and is done under anesthesia/paralytic’s.

No one will ever convince me that 100 years from now society will look back on this and think this was legitimate science

I've gotten this. I had no idea this is what I went through. I didn't ask questions. I was so depressed, I was seriously at the point where I would've agreed to have my head replaced. Did it work? I got off of anti-depressants two years later, thankfully.

my dad got that done, he was in a deep psychotic depression, it fixed him almost immediately and he got back to his normal self♥️There was some memory loss at the beginning but it faded quickly. And he is still the same normal self today, after 9 years♥

Somehow also lobotomy was claimed to have worked. The doctor who “invented” it won the Nobel prize, they must have also said the majority of patients improved. The question is what they meant by “improving”, these procedures force a hard reset to the brain but it doesn’t mean they don’t do damage at the same time. This is like throwing your laptop on the floor to restart it, maybe it does restart but it doesn’t mean you didn’t damage it…

My aunt had this and came home with burns on the side of her head. It’s didn’t help her schizophrenia at all.

My dr. tried to push me to try this for my BPD, even though I tried to tell him that I'm in no way at the point where I need that. Like, can't I at least TRY therapy first? But he honestly wouldn't hear it, so I charged doctors. I mean, it can't be common to JUMP straight to ECT without trying other options first?
